An argument over a seat at the San Diego Comic-Con took an ugly shape when an attendee stabbed another in the eye. Afterlife panel was reaching its conclusion in San Diego Convention Center’s Hall H last night, everything appeared alright with some fans eager to have glimpse of Milla Jovovich.
Amidst everything-normal, a heated argument over a seat began between two attendees. The argument turned out to be violence with one attendee gave a nasty eye stabbing.
Hall H was ready to host the stars of forthcoming movies Paul and Cowboys & Aliens next, followed by a Marvel Studios panel on Captain America and Thor. On the scene, Sergeant Gary Mondesir of the San Diego Police Department told CBR: “Basically, inside of Hall H during Comic-Con, prior to one of the showings, two males got into a dispute. One male attacked the other male, stabbing him on the side of his eye with a pen.”
The pen stabber was arrested soon after he could cause more damages. The attendee reportedly was left fuming when the victim turned down his offer to leave the seat. The victim said that he wanted to sit close to the panel. However, the stabbing incident didn’t have much impact on Comic-Con programming, as it was delayed for around 40 minutes only.
Mondesir was surprised by the violence, saying: “This is extremely rare. The folks that attend here are extremely well behaved … We have no problem with the attendees of Comic-Con.” The attacker was taken to the slammer and will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
